The Secret Of The Lord

Psalms 25:14 The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him; and He will show them His covenant.

Read Psalms 25:1-22.

Two facts stand out in this matter of secret things. One is that God knows and holds all the secrets of the universe. *The secret things belong unto the Lord our God* (Deut. 29:29). Even our Lord Jesus, God incarnate, said, *But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but My Father only* (Matt. 25:36). By voluntarily limiting Himself in His incarnation, Christ gladly left certain secrets with God the Father. Secondly, God loves to reveal His secrets to those who seek Him. Look at our text again: *The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him.* Daniel spoke of the God *that revealeth secrets.* *Eye hath not seen,* said Paul, *nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit* (1 Cor. 2:9-10).

To learn the secrets of God, one must enter into His covenant. *He will show them His covenant,* says the psalmist. The writer to the Hebrews takes up this same theme and speaks of a New Covenant, one based on the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Indeed, the way into the very secrets of God is now open to every believer because our Lord Jesus opened it for us when He died and rose again. A powerful motivator, it would seem to me, for us to spend more time in God*s Word and in prayer, so we can learn those wonderful heavenly secrets!

Small thought here. Jesus said that we are to pray to the Father who *seeth in secret.* The way to appreciate God*s secrets is to share yours with Him!
